Why sponsor a native missionary? For the simple reason that, in most
cases, native missionaries are far more effective in reaching their own
people than foreign missionaries. They already know the language.
They already know the customs. And, most importantly, they already know
the world view of the people they are reaching. A native missionary
can also live on far less than the average Western missionary.
It costs $100-$500 to support the average native missionary.
Throughout the non-Christian world, many native missionaries are spreading the
gospel at great personal cost to themselves. It is our obligation as Christians
to help our brothers and sisters in need (I John 3:17-18). If the non-Christian
world is going to hear the gospel, somebody is going to have to preach it to them.
Consider what God says in Romans 10:14-15, "How then shall they call on Him in whom
they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?"
Jesus gave us a command to "Go and make disciples of all nations." Those who have not
gone themselves are obligated to send a substitute.
Starting in West Africa, Great Commission Society is working to expand throughout the entire
10/40 Window. We are looking for individuals, churches, and businesses to contribute on a
monthly basis according to their ability. If you are interested in sponsoring a native missionary
to plant a church where none yet exist, please complete this online form.
